The project
With a tight programme of works, just 50 days per floor, nearly all activities were on a tight programme.
ISG worked closely with the hotel to determine peak room occupancy periods, and scheduled the works accordingly. This impacted on the micro-timing of floors being offered up by the hotel and the re-visiting of rooms for final snagging/day 2 works.
Within the room bays themselves, one of the main briefing requirements was to open up the room with improved levels of lighting and natural daylight. As such, following the strip out of the bathroom modules, a new window aperture was introduced to the bathroom/bedroom partition to offer translucent light penetration into the bathroom itself.
To achieve a lighter more vibrant feel, white Volakis-look tiles were applied to wall elevations with faux grey slate tiles applied to the floor.
All bedrooms received a new plaster ceiling pelmet, backlit to advance levels of illumination. This involved the retention of a central slab soffit panel in the middle of the room and creation of a multi-level plaster ceiling and bulkhead detail.
