Introduction
This was our third office project at the Peel Holdings MediaCityUK development, home of numerous BBC departments and a national hub for creative industry businesses. This particular project was for Satellite Information Services (SIS), a world leader in the television production industry. The fast-track design and build scheme involved a specialist fit out of the premises including recording space with a complex specification and an open plan office floor. The Project
The main project focus was
the provision of specialist M&E services, and from a base build shell we
designed an effective solution to accommodate the requirements. The
M&E installation included zonal lighting systems on PIR sensors, with
specific lighting requirements for each of the floors. We also designed and
installed new alarm systems including fire and intruder alerts whilst ensuring
that the fire integrity of the building as a whole was maintained. A bespoke
sprinkler system was also installed. As an additional project element, we
managed the connection of the SIS services to the satellite teleport system
located at Salford Quays.
Floors
eight and nine were allocated for recording use with several studios
constructed on each floor with bespoke acoustic requirements. The partition
walls on these floors were constructed slab to soffit using the specification
and details from the client’s acoustic consultant. This ranged from 40 Rw dB to
58 Rw dB to which a specialist range of decorative wall and ceiling pads were
applied. The result was a high quality sound blocking wall with added
reverberation deadening properties. Lighting level controls were also required
for the recording studios.
Floor 10 was fitted out as open plan office spaces.
