The new BBC Wales Headquarters in Cardiff, the Corn Exchange development in Manchester and a programme that saw ISG deliver 10 school projects for Manchester City Council have all been recognised at regional Constructing Excellence Awards over the last few weeks.

BBC Wales Headquarters won Project of the Year at the Constructing Excellence Wales awards in June, cementing ISG’s achievements in the South Wales region.

ISG’s northern business scooped the top prizes for two Manchester projects – the EBN schools programme of work took home the Offsite Construction Award and the Corn Exchange hotel project in Manchester won the Preservation & Rejuvenation Award at the North West Regional Construction Awards.

The EBN Schools project was also highly commended in the Offsite Construction Award in Yorkshire and Humberside, following a joint entry with sub-contractor, Premier Modular.

BBC Wales Headquarters was named the best in the region for providing a flexible and inspiring workplace in the heart of a now thriving Central Square in Cardiff, as well overcoming logistical challenges through collaboration with stakeholders and surrounding communities.

The EBN schools programme was highlighted for its modern use of technology, particularly alongside partner Premier Modular. The Corn Exchange team was hailed for its heritage work on the 1903 listed building in the heart of Manchester city centre.

It’s not the first time these projects have been recognised. The EBN schools programme’s unique modular design won the Digital Construction Award at Constructing Excellence last year - and has also just been shortlisted for the Innovation in Delivering Value Award at Education Estates - and the BBC Wales Headquarters team recently scooped the Supply Chain Excellence accolade at the prestigious Construction News Awards. Corn Exchange was also a finalist in the Project of the Year category.

All three projects will now go through to the national Construction Excellence Awards in London in November.

Gordon Kew, ISG’s Construction’s Chief Operating Officer, said: “We go from strength to strength at these awards every year and it’s fantastic to see ISG so well represented again for 2019. These projects show our teams’ dedication to quality, innovation and client service and I wish them all the best at the national awards later this year.”
