Introduction
Designed to evoke ISG’s brand values, the new office space on the fifth floor of the Tomorrow Building at MediaCityUK is now a thriving hub of activity.
The fit-out project saw ISG act as both contractor and client, utilising the latest construction methods, including BIM Revit software and a virtual reality 3D model, to deliver a high-specification environment, showcasing its office credentials.
Inspired by the Manchester waterways that connect northern towns and cities, the open floor plate and flexible spaces encourage dynamic, collaborative, and flexible working.
The design
The design had to future-proof the office with the ability to add new technology and infrastructure. With working groups also established to ensure that the team working in the new space had a say on its design and layout.
The office now provides a dynamic workplace for the 60-strong northern team, centred on promoting flexible and collaborative working, enhancing business productivity, and allowing for use in both formal and informal scenarios, by large and small groups, for long or short time periods.
As contractor, ISG delivered a full Cat-B fit out including full FF&E over the course of 10 weeks, working closely with other tenants and businesses, including the seventh floor Premier Inn and offices below. With noisy works restricted to just two hours per day, communication was key to ensuring the fit out had as little impact on neighbours as possible.
Sustainability
Modification of fixed furniture from previous offices
mitigated the impact of the new space, while new material additions were
carefully selected (e.g. 100% recycled nylon carpets). End of life reuse and
recycling was also a key consideration in the specification.
