Out of the darkness and into the light for mental health
On 11 May, ISG in the Middle East took part in “Darkness into Light”, a 5km walk in support of those bereaved by suicide.
This worldwide walk is in conjunction with the Mental Health Awareness Week in the UK, and the event brings communities together at over 200 venues across the globe.
Held at Kite Beach in Jumeirah, the team gathered at the location in the wee hours of the morning at 03:45, where volunteers read out poems from people on why they are walking.
Prior to the walk, everyone had to obtain a candle from a display that spells out “HOPE”, following which, they collectively observed a minute of silence.
The quiet moment on the beach brought forth a spiritual atmosphere, as each person remembered those who lost their lives due to mental health issues.
Proceeds from the walk supports Al Jalila Foundation to help build a free mental health support network in the UAE.
Scott McCulloch, ISG’s general manager for the Middle East said, “The event was a huge success, and it was a fantastic achievement for everyone who was involved in the walk.”
“We are proud to have participated in such a meaningful cause in support of the mental well-being of our people and the wider community.”
