This International Day of People with Disabilities, ISG is looking back on UK Retail joinery apprentice, Jack Biggs, being featured on ITV News Meridian in a segment about workplace inclusion.

As part of ISG’s commitment to being a diverse and inclusive employer, we've signed up with the UK government's Disability Confident Employer Scheme.

By pledging our support for this accreditation, ISG will be committed to improving the way in which we recruit, retain and develop people with disabilities in our business.

As many as one in five people are currently living with disabilities and learning difficulties. Yet despite this large statistic, there is an untapped talent pool of people living with disabilities who are able and willing to get out to work, but are struggling to find employment. Being Disability Confident can help us attract people to ISG and help them fulfil their potential and contribute fully to our business.

Highlighting the work that ISG does to attract a diverse workforce, joinery apprentice for our UK Retail division, Jack Biggs, was interviewed for the piece.

Jack started his journey at ISG back in September 2018 on a supported internship, but his outstanding knowledge of the industry and enthusiasm led to Jack joining ISG full time in 2019, through the joinery apprenticeship scheme.

“I’ve got ADHD and Autism and going through college I didn’t think I’d be able to get a job like this. Carpentry suits me and my personality, and to say that the England players have been using something I’ve made is so exciting.”
