Crewe Community Fire Station

Our project for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service has been shortlisted for a National Project Excellence Award by framework provider Procure Partnerships.

The awards celebrate the best projects delivered nationally across the framework, with Crewe Community Fire Station nominated in the Innovative Technology of the Year category.

Crewe Community Fire Station is the sixth project ISG has completed for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service. It is the culmination of eight years of learning, improvement and partnership working as the authority transforms its estate to meet emergencies across a number of fronts.

Our project at Crewe followed the award-winning design and build scheme at Chester Community Fire Station. As the country’s first fire station designed to be zero carbon for regulated energy, Chester achieved carbon positive status as built, with lessons learnt, and continuous improvement brought by the same design and construction teams to Crewe.

The two-storey, steel-frame station house, breathing apparatus (BA) building, and six-storey training tower, have transformed the site, with the addition of the refurbished community outreach centre, supporting the educational aims of the fire service.

Delivered across a number of phases, the fire station remained in operation throughout the programme, as it moved from the existing 1960s building to a modular temporary fire station on site.

The station is designed to exacting environmental standards to better net zero carbon for regulated energy targets.

Procure Partnerships visited the site in September 2023 to explore how collaboration and partnership were delivering this key blue light facility:

"“Procure Partnership’s visit to the site back in September 2023 showcased some of the impressive technology installed as part of the project, contributing to the creation of a great video. The new station is a credit to everyone involved, it is a fantastic asset to the community and delivers a better working environment for firefighters and staff.”

Samantha Dingley, Assistant Framework Manager, ISG

The awards event will be held at The Grand Hotel Birmingham, Colmore Row, B3 2BS on Thursday 19 September 2024.
