Major Trauma Centre

The Project

This refurbishment project was undertaken within Addenbrookes Hospital’s busy Emergency Assessment Unit. The Major Trauma Centre (MTC) is a key facility, being the designated MTC for the East of England. Up to 800 people receive major traumatic injuries in this region every year.

The facility comprises reception and waiting areas, evaluation rooms, treatment bays, administrative areas and staff quarters, and the refurbishment works included structural alterations, stripping out works, installation of new partitioning, modifications to mechanical & electrical services and the complete fit out of the MTC.

The project was undertaken in four phases with the client vacating certain areas and decanting to other areas, to ensure continual occupation of the live facility. In support of this, the project included some 24-hour working.
“I would like to thank your team for their hard work and flexible approach whilst delivering what has been a complex programme of refurbishment works over the past year. This has enabled our clinical team to continue to run a very busy Emergency Department and this development will improve the outcomes for many patients in the years ahead. Thank you again for your contribution to this outcome.”
