Introduction

For over 140 years, our energy client has been providing energy solutions around the world.

Continuing to grow its presence in the UK, our client’s new home showcases the brand’s classic interior aesthetic, with a modern approach to business partnering weaved into the philosophy of the design and build.

Built on a foundation of robust relationships, the fit out was delivered ahead of programme, leaving behind a positive impact on various charities supported by the project’s delivery.

What we did

Comprising CAT A to CAT B fit outs of levels 4-6, the works have included new partitions, flooring, finishes and furniture. As well as rebuilding offices, and advancing the capabilities of the AV and air conditioning facilities, and the meeting rooms

  • Floors four and five: With all works happening overnight, the floors have seen an expansion to the health and medical zone, new additional space for legal teams, and focus rooms designed for solo working and collaborative use.
  • Floor six: In addition to the floor’s fit out, a new external terrace has been introduced with associated paving, furniture, and irrigation system.

In a unique approach for ISG’s UK fit out agility team, the bespoke design and build has taken the office from a stage 0 blank canvas to a fully designed space that places its people at its heart.

Taking everything into account from the way the sun hits the space, to the predicted levels of footfall across various stages of the day, the space has been meticulously developed to support its talent.

A unique partnership

The project’s relationship driven approach has seen ISG working directly with the client on every aspect of the design and build.

Engaging with different stakeholders across all areas of the business to ensure it retains its classic aesthetic and reflects the look and feel of the rest of the business’ offices. Bringing the client’s vision to life at every stage of the fit out.

Clear and consistent communication with ISG and the client team through weekly meetings and formal reports further enhanced the relationship.

Overcoming challenges

Working in a multi-tenanted occupied building required careful noise and works management, all of which were communicated early to client and building teams to ensure minimal disruption.

Rebuilding the offices while the building was in occupation also posed challenges, as departments had to be relocated while works were being delivered.

The programme faced a lot of changes with both the design and the build, so the team had to be agile, open and honest in the delivery. But despite the potential challenges posed by said changes, the team were still able to hand over five weeks early.

A sustainable delivery

While there were no specific sustainability targets set for the project, materials were recycled and repurposed at every possible opportunity – aligned with both ISG and the client’s corporate sustainability ambitions.

Unneeded and unused furniture was offered out to staff, and a warehouse space was utilised to help store this. Achieving close to zero waste, with roughly only 1% of materials being sent to landfill.

Adding value every step of the journey

In a unique approach to giving back, the project launched a health and safety league to enhance site safety performance and create fundraising opportunities.

The team’s fantastic efforts saw over £15,000 being donated to six UK-based charities, including
Amy’s Space and Butterfly Boxes; supporting homelessness, the lost and the lonely, and kidney cancer patients.
