Introduction

Based in the St Botolphs Building, JLT acquired floors three to nine as well as the ground, lower ground and basement. The design was generally open plan along with numerous cellular offices and meeting rooms and client-facing executive spaces. In addition there is a 180-seat auditorium as well as a large dining area and catering facility.

The Project

Delivering a 297,000 sq ft fit out in 34 weeks demanded a right-first-time approach from every member of the team. Prior to full-scale construction several mock-ups were built to a completed state, enabling the team to review and make changes. These included sections of the office that interfaced with the central atrium, curved glass meeting rooms and the core three meeting room suites.

To ensure the highest quality, samples of all materials and fittings were produced. These ranged from the switch plate covers for wall sockets through to the construction of a dynamic section of the lighting feature wall that operates behind JLT’s dedicated escalator from the main reception.

The mockup and benchmarking process proved to be invaluable to the team enabling them to capture some potentially critical construction, interface and sequencing issues prior to construction.

The project was successfully completed and achieved a BREEAM Excellent environmental rating.
