The Garment Factory is a cut above the rest

Our project at The Garment Factory was named Refurbished/Recycled Workplace winner at this year’s BCO Scottish Awards Lunch.

Now a thriving office space in the popular Merchant City Central Conservation Area of Glasgow, 112 Ingram Street had lain empty for four years before work began in 2016.

The sensitive restoration project saw us work with architects Morgan McDonnell to bring the building back to life, maintaining original features and creating open-plan office space across six of the seven-storey building’s floors, with ground floor retail spaces and a café, games room, cycling storage, breakout areas, showers and changing facilities in the basement.

Exposed ceilings, steel and brickwork, wooden flooring and ornate staircases pay homage to the building’s past, while modern mechanical and electrical systems, and natural ventilation, ensure the building’s tenants’ comfort.

The scheme fought off competition from projects across Scotland to be crowned winner of the category.

It will now go on to compete at the national awards in London in October. ‏
