Since joining ISG three years ago, Lee Phillips, managing director of ISG’s Agility business, has driven the business forward, receiving recognition from across the industry in the process.

Lee heads up a specialist team focused on delivering projects under 50,000 sq ft, Agility, which has had a successful year and is due to have a promising 2019, with some exciting projects in the pipeline.

A recent Construction News feature profiled ISG’s capability and expertise in the smaller-scale fit out sector, with its Agility arm turning over £80 million last year and targeting £100 million in year three.

The idea that there is a smaller volume of work available for ‘less glamourous or prestigious’ projects in this market area is a misconception, says Lee: “The reality, which is totally different, is the volume of work available in this sector is approximately £800m [annually].”

Lee also sheds light on the importance of collaboration and flexibility in contributing to Agility’s success, referencing the importance of maintaining shared values across the entire supply chain.

“In some cases, we get two weeks or less to turn around a smaller-scale project,” he says.

“We need the supply chain to be back-to-back with us in terms of responsiveness.”

Lee continues: “There are around 10 companies that are now sharing our values, and have done some fantastic work.”

This cohesive working approach has led to great results, including ISG Agility’s Equinox luxury health and fitness club project in Westminster, UK.

The project involved installing two feature spiral staircases and the delicate restoration of striking Marble archways, as well as transformation of Equinox's facilities, including cardio areas and spa, a state-of-the-art strength floor, signature Precision Running zone and private Pilates studio.

Lee highlights how Agility’s expertise delivered outstanding results for Equinox, and why ISG is so highly regarded in the sector.

“This is where Agility’s capabilities really shine through and why we are taking an increasing share of the highly competitive leisure market, with major project delivery credentials and highly responsive fit out solutions.”

ISG’s Agility business has also been selected on multiple public-sector frameworks, and has some exciting projects in the pipeline.
