With over 30 years’ experience, delivering some of the world’s largest and highly-engineered construction projects for a portfolio of major global technology clients, Simon Caron has been appointed as managing director of ISG’s growing Engineering Services division in Asia.

Based at ISG’s Asia headquarters in Singapore, Simon will be responsible for the bidding, construction and commissioning of hyperscale datacentres and strengthening ISG’s industry-leading Engineering Services offer in the region.

Simon’s career at ISG has been an inspiring success story, driven by a passionate individual with a keen interest in modern and off-site construction methods, and continuous improvement and efficiency in both process and procedures.

After joining ISG in 2016 as Datacentre Campus Director, his achievements have seen him lead the successful delivery of a £600 million hyperscale datacentre project in Europe and expand ISG’s leading datacentre offer into new countries, including Germany, Sweden and Denmark.

A strong advocate for operations, resource-planning, sustainability and health and safety, Simon has cultivated a strong foundation in all aspects of successful datacentre development and construction wherever he goes.

More recently, he was Operational Lead on a £420m hyperscale datacentre in The Netherlands – one of the world’s longest and most complex buildings. With demand outstripping supply in the datacentre industry, Simon pioneered a new model and methodology of rapid hyperscale construction, delivering the 60MW datacentre on schedule and with no defects in a record-breaking 55 weeks – the fastest ever achieved in the industry for a facility of this capacity.

Simon said, “I am very excited to be here in Singapore, where new technologies such as 5G, artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things are fuelling a booming global digital economy. Singapore is an attractive digital technology hub in Asia, with stable governance, as well as a strong legal framework and subsea cable network. My team and I are very much looking forward to being a significant part of this fast-growing industry and bringing ISG’s industry-leading Engineering Services offer to the region.”
