ISG’s Arne Wellmann talks digital construction in Germany

ISG’s lead in Munich, Arne Wellmann, has talked digital construction in a piece for German publication, Der Tagesspiegel.

Arne, who is ISG’s head of Munich, contributed to the piece, which explored the digital technologies that are revolutionising the construction industry.

Digital techniques are replacing traditional techniques to transform how office buildings are managed post-completion, explains Arne.

“We compare the plans with the work carried out on site, and create the list of defects on the tablet,” he says.

“We zoom in on photos that are placed directly in the system, and on drawings in order to compare the plan and execution better,” Arne continues.

“We then send any defects to operatives with a request for removal – this saves time, and ensures transparent, accurate documentation."

Arne maintains that the innovation doesn’t stop here, and says that the future of the office building will see continued development in intelligent building solutions – citing facilities management as one example.

“Bathroom facilities register user frequency and report automatically to the property management team when cleaning becomes necessary,” he says.
