ISG supports Workers Memorial Day

Did you know every year more people are killed at work than at wars? And most of these incidents are because of a lack of health and safety on site.

At ISG, employee safety is our number one priority, and this year we’re supporting Workers Memorial Day (WMD) on 28 April 2017.

WMD is a day to serve as a rallying cry to remember the dead, but fight for the living.

The 2017 global theme is 'good health and safety for all workers whoever they are', focusing on inequalities in occupational health and the role unions play in narrowing the inequalities gap.

This year will focus particularly on the hidden and new gig economies (temporary and short term contract work), risks faced by migrant workers, and the issues of gender and class.

To mark the day, ISG’s offices and sites will be holding a one-minute silence on 28 April at 11:00 to remember those who have lost their lives at work, and to take the time on the day to remember the importance of health and safety practices.

The annual day is organised by the Trades Union Council (TUC), who focus on raising awareness of the quality of working life and promoting equality for all.
