Dr Vicky Hutchinson recognised as influential property ‘disruptor’

ISG’s head of social value, Dr Vicky Hutchinson, has been named in Insider Media’s top 25 property disruptors in the North West.

Insider Media profiles 25 ‘disruptors’ each year who are exploring unique ways to revolutionise the world of property in the North West, and help drive the industry in the region forward.

Vicky is responsible for rolling out ISG’s all-encompassing social value strategy across its UK business.

“We’re taking a structured and measurable approach to delivering social value across our projects, focusing on creating opportunities for enhancing employment and skills,” she says.

“An important aim is changing the conversation about careers in the built environment, providing an accurate portrayal of contemporary construction practices to attract new entrants to the industry, help unemployed people into employment and to upskill the existing workforce.”

As social value gains traction with clients and planning regulations, ISG is responding.

“This year we’ve invested in an innovative tool called the Social Profit Calculator that enables us to measure our social value and express it in monetary terms,” continues Vicky.

“It performs several different calculations, including a calculation of the social value generated by the building-in-use.

“We’re also launching our own qualification in the House of Commons on 11 September.

“To tackle the skills gap, ISG has joined forces with WJEC [Welsh Joint Education Committee] to co-develop a new qualification, the Professional Construction Practice (PCP) Level 3 Diploma.

“Recognised by universities and UCAS for progression into higher education and valued by employers as a foundation for Higher Level Apprenticeships, we believe the PCP will create a talent pool of young people capable of taking on the vast opportunities that exist in the UK and global construction industry.”
