Construction Manager – the magazine of the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) – has published a five-page cover story on our major office refurbishment project opposite the famous Old Bailey law courts in central London.
Under the headline ‘A ripping yarn’, journalist Stephen Cousins looks at how the building at 20 Old Bailey is being radically altered during a 21-month program, which sees demolition and fit out activities happening in close proximity to help achieve a demanding fast-track timetable.
Outstanding collaboration and an absolute focus on smart solutions has helped the team re-imagine the existing structure and make it work harder for the client, whilst minimising waste and potential disruption.
“A forensic investigation of the existing building enabled the project team… to push the structure to its limits, adding two new floors on the roof and increasing net lettable space by 25 per cent.”
ISG is carrying out the £59m refurbishment scheme for the Blackstone Group, creating approximately 240,000 sq ft of office space as well as recreating a stone façade, which will be more in keeping with its surrounding architecture.
The featured article also looks into the project’s waste management program and the unexpected issues which have arisen on site.
