About the partnership

DFYC is located in Bermondsey, a short walk from two projects ISG carried out on Upper Thames St, London. DFYC supports children and young adults from Bermondsey and the neighbouring areas, helping them to grow confidence and fulfil their potential.

They do this through a structured programme of sporting, artistic and recreational activities. ISG has engaged with DFYC in a number of ways over the years including fundraising, refurbishing the Fisher Boxing Gym and DFYC office space and holding a 'careers in construction' event for DFYC members highlighting the diverse range of careers in the construction industry.

Recognition

ISG’s community partnership with the Downside Fisher Youth Club (DFYC) won the prestigious Lord Mayor’s Dragon Award 2011 in the category of Social Inclusion and a Business in the Community ‘Big Tick’ 2012 for ‘Building Stronger Communities’.

This 'Big Tick' was reaccredited in 2013 for the continued partnership. "The support provided by ISG to the Downside Fisher Youth Club should be a model for businesses wishing to help charities. There is total trust between the two organisations and the support is not just a one off, it is continuous and effective, it covers all areas and is a two way relationship with the youth club always ready, willing and able to help ISG." Chris Dick CBE, Vice President Downside Fisher Youth Club.
